Press Releases, Seattle

Store Opening Date Set for March 6, 2015; Manager Jobs Posted on July 24, 2014

SEATTLE (April 23, 2014) – Nordstrom, Inc., one of the United States’ leading fashion specialty retailers, announced John Banks as manager of its store at Rideau Centre in Ottawa. Nordstrom Rideau Centre will open on Friday, March 6, 2015 and will be the company’s second store location in Canada, following its opening in Calgary on September 19, 2014. The new store will feature a compelling mix of apparel, shoes and accessories for women, men and children.

Banks began his Nordstrom career in 1999 in the restaurant division as the Southern California Regional Cafe Manager. In 2001, he became the store manager at Nordstrom Montclair Plaza in Montclair, Calif., and later served as store manager at two of the company’s largest stores at Nordstrom Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. and Nordstrom Fashion Valley in San Diego. Most recently Banks served as the Southeast Human Resources Director, and was based in Miami.

“John’s varied leadership assignments across our business make him an ideal candidate to lead our store team in Ottawa,” said Karen McKibbin, president of Nordstrom Canada. “Customer service is the cornerstone of our business and his experience coupled with his pioneering spirit will help us bring our culture of service north of the border.”

“We’re new to Canada and we’re going to focus on doing things the right way for Canadians,” said Banks. “That means we’ll work hard to see our business through the eyes of our local customers so that we can provide a relevant and meaningful shopping experience.”
